The initial round of awarding of �Ҹ�� donor-funded scholarships begins after the priority application filing deadline has passed. Students who are selected to receive a donor-funded scholarship will be notified at the time of awarding, and the scholarship will appear in the MyUMGC Student Portal. After the first round of awards is complete, students who were not selected will be notified by email, typically in late fall. However, as scholarship awards are adjusted throughout the aid year and funding becomes available, all applications continue to be reviewed for eligibility. It is possible that students could be selected for a donor-funded scholarship at any point throughout the aid year, as funding availability allows.

If I missed the �Ҹ�� scholarship application filing date, can I still apply?

Yes. You should submit the online scholarship application by the priority filing date for maximum consideration. However, if you have been invited to apply via your to-do list, you are still allowed to submit your online scholarship application until the application link is no longer available.

Do I have to enroll in a specific number of credits to keep my �Ҹ�� donor scholarship?

Yes. Most �Ҹ�� scholarships require undergraduate and graduate students to enroll in at least 6 credits for the semester for which the scholarship has been awarded. Failure to comply with the enrollment requirement may result in a cancellation of the scholarships. You are responsible for any balances incurred as a result of the cancellation.

Can I receive more than one �Ҹ�� donor scholarship?

We aim to offer scholarship funding to as many eligible students as possible each year based on available funding. For this reason, it is rare for students to receive more than one donor-funded or institutional scholarship in an aid year.

You may be eligible to receive a scholarship offered by UMGC.

University of Maryland Global Campus offers a pool of more than 100 donor-funded scholarships to help students like you achieve your education goals.

Each one of these scholarships, administered by the �Ҹ�� Office of Financial Aid, has its own set of unique eligibility criteria, which could consider GPA, financial need, credits earned, and a host of other categories. If you're eligible for a �Ҹ�� donor scholarship, the Office of Financial Aid will invite you to apply.

Award amounts for the individual scholarships in this pool may vary, but the maximum combined total amount you can receive from most donor-funded and institutional scholarships is $2,000 per academic year.

Please note: These scholarships differ from other specially designated scholarships at UMGC such as the Maryland Completion Scholarship or the Pillars of Strength Scholarship Program, which have special eligibility criteria and/or a different application process.

Eligibility

In order to be invited in spring to apply for a donor scholarship for the following academic year, you must first meet the following criteria:

Be admitted to �Ҹ�� and meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards
Be an undergraduate student who has earned at least 15 undergraduate credits at �Ҹ�� toward your program, or a graduate student who has earned at least 9 graduate credits at �Ҹ�� toward your program.
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
Have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file at UMGC for the upcoming aid year

To be eligible for a scholarship disbursement, most scholarships require that you enroll at least half-time in courses that are applicable to your program of study in all semesters in which you receive an award, unless otherwise specified for your individual scholarship program.

It's important to submit your FAFSA early each year. Many of the scholarships available through this process can be renewed annually if you continue to maintain your eligibility requirements. Plus, you could be considered for other donor scholarships in future years.

Scholarship Details

Award amounts: Award amounts for the individual scholarships in this pool may vary based on available annual funding, but the maximum combined total amount you can receive from most donor-funded and institutional scholarships is $2,000 per academic year.
Disbursement information: UMGC will provide you information on term award disbursement (the process and timeline for financial aid funds, including scholarships, to be credited to your student account).
Application invitation: If you meet the minimum qualifications listed above, you will be sent an invitation via email and as a checklist item on your To Do list on your My�Ҹ�� student portal to complete the online scholarship application in the spring of each year.

How the Award Process Works

If you meet the minimum qualifications listed above, the Office of Financial Aid will send you an email and a notification in the To Do List in the My�Ҹ�� student portal, inviting you to fill out a �Ҹ�� scholarship application. Invitations are sent only once per year, during the spring of each academic year in which you meet the baseline eligibility criteria. Students who first meet the minimum eligibility criteria after the spring invitations are sent in a given year must wait until the following spring to receive an invitation to apply.
Submit the application as soon as possible. The priority deadline for completing the application is June 15 each year. Scholarship awards for the upcoming aid year are based on funding availability.
The Office of Financial Aid will notify you by late fall of your scholarship award status via email. You will receive a notification if you are matched to a scholarship or if you do not receive a scholarship.

Students who continue to meet all eligibility requirements for these scholarships will be invited to complete an application annually.
