Call for Entries

Maryland High School Juried Art Exhibition

Submission Deadline: October 13, 2024

The UMGC Arts Program announces a call for entries for a statewide juried student art competition. Entries are due by October 13, 2024. A panel of jurors chosen from the local art community will select the featured artists and winners. The exhibition will run from January 19, 2025, through April 6, 2025.

Art and Influence: Works by Joseph Sheppard and His Prolific Protégés

Exhibition Dates: November 12, 2023–November 10, 2024

An internationally celebrated Maryland artist, Joseph Sheppard taught painting and drawing at the Maryland Institute College of Art for 15 years. In so doing, he shaped the artistic careers of countless students, including those in this exhibition.

 

Pushing Forward: Politics, Social Conflict, and the Racial Divide in the Art of Kevin Cole

Exhibition Dates: September 22, 2024–January 5, 2025

Through African design elements in his mixed-media and sculptural pieces, renowned artist Kevin Cole explores the lives of African Americans, addressing topics such as voting rights, lynching, and religion.
