Credit for Vocational & Technical Training

Turn your hands-on experience into college credit at UMGC.

Your hands-on experience can help you save time and money on your education. Earn college credit by transferring your vocational and technical training to your University of Maryland Global Campus degree.

How it Works

After you , ask the organization(s) where you received your vocational or technical training to send a record of your training to studentrecords@umgc.edu.

Vocational and technical credit from UMGC-approved institutions or American Council on Education-approved organizations may be applied as elective credit only. Vocational and technical credit may not be used to satisfy certificate or degree requirements such as general education, specialization, or distribution requirements.

Examples of training from UMGC-approved institutions that may translate to credit include:

  • AC/DC circuits
  • Aircraft maintenance
  • Critical care
  • Data entry
  • Dental radiography
  • Emergency room technician
  • Emergency vehicle operation
  • Inventory control
  • Rescue operations
  • Storekeeping
  • Typing
  • Vehicle maintenance
  • Voltage regulation equipment
  • Warehouse practices
