Mission Statement: The mission of the project management concentration is to complement general business management and information technology (IT) skills with a robust combination of foundational and advanced project management expertise that equips business and IT managers (from the MSM and MSIT degree programs) to effectively manage and lead a wide spectrum of projects—ranging from simple to exceptionally large and complex. The overarching goal is to emphasize and develop a blend of hard and soft skills that prepares students for management and leadership roles in any industry or work environment.

This course must be taken within the first 6 credits of study (if required). The UCSP 615 requirement may be waived if you previously earned a graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution. For more information, contact your academic advisor.

To be successful in this program, we recommend that students have a strong background in matters of statistics and either finance or accounting. Strong writing skills are also encouraged.
Develop advanced project management skills, earn a certificate, and get a head start on your master’s degree by successfully completing our online graduate certificate in project management. Once you have successfully completed the certificate, you may be able to apply up to 12 credits toward the online project management master’s concentration.
If you earn an MBA from UMGC, you may be able to earn a second master’s degree in management with a concentration in project management and save up to 12 credits through our dual degree option. You must start the second degree program within two years of completing the MBA.
To complete the second degree, you must complete all concentration courses and (3 Credits, MGMT 670).
