Stay current on security issues and trends through CSS events.

The Center for Security Studies at University of Maryland Global Campus offers conferences, seminar series, and webinars that explore cybersecurity and homeland security issues and trends in an open and unclassified format. Speakers and panel members include a wide range of leaders and security experts from the government, industry, and academia.

CSS events are designed for students, faculty, policymakers, government officials, military personnel, defense contractors, law enforcement officials, and interagency and private-sector communities working and interested in the cybersecurity and homeland security fields.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month

Held every October, Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online. We are proud to be champions in support of this essential online safety, awareness, and education initiative.

Meet Dr. Calvin Nobles, VP & Dean, School of Cyber & IT

The cybersecurity field is growing, creating more demand for trained cyber professionals. Under Dr. Calvin Nobles’ leadership, UMGC’s School of Cybersecurity & IT is helping students gain the knowledge, skills, and real-world expertise needed to specialize in the cybersecurity field of their choice. Dr. Nobles recently took part in a webinar Q&A session, sharing his thoughts on his work at UMGC, how his military background led him to a cybersecurity career, AI’s impact on cybersecurity, career resources and marketability, how to make the cybersecurity field more inclusive, and more.

UMGC's Center for Security Studies hosted an informative online webinar with Kemba Walden, Acting National Cyber Director in the White House's Office of the National Cyber Director. Walden brings a , including high-level cybersecurity and legal roles at Microsoft, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency. She discussed a number of topics, including the cybersecurity workforce, digital literacy educational pipeline, andÌý. More than 500 people attended online.
