ADA Compliance is a unit within the Office of Diversity and Equity. ADA Compliance serves as the point of contact for matters relating to ADA compliance while facilitating the flow of information among the various UMGC offices. We provide advice on ADA compliance concerns to all sectors of the ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ community.
ADA Compliance’s mission includes ensuring UMGC's programs are ADA compliant. We also maintain current information regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act, also known as ADA, of 1990; the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended: Section 504 and Section 508; and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities as well as promote best practices regarding the rights of persons with disabilities.

The ADA compliance officer coordinates with relevant UMGC offices to assure compliance with the ADA and other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to persons with disabilities. The ADA compliance officer is responsible for tracking UMGC's progress in its efforts to comply with state and federal laws, filing all necessary reports, and providing consultative services. Additionally, the ADA compliance officer maintains current information regarding state and federal laws and regulations as well as best practices.
A person who believes that they have been discriminated against based on their disability may choose to resolve the matter internally with UMGC by filing a complaint with Fair Practices.Ìý For more information about this complaint process, please read UMGC Policy VI-1.00 Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment.
