Earn Credit for SHRM Certifications

University of Maryland Global Campus is proud to offer course credit for those who have earned certifications from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), specifically the SHRM Certified Professional® (SHRM-CP®) and SHRM Senior Certified Professional® (SHRM-SCP®) certifications. These career-relevant HR certifications are designed to demonstrate your mastery of the field of human resources. Whether you’re an entry-level professional performing general HR duties at your organization or an HR leader tasked with developing policies and guidelines, a certification from SHRM proves that you’ve mastered the relevant HR skills and competencies you need to thrive in the marketplace. At UMGC, we want to recognize your prior learning experiences and reward you for your expertise.

UMGC will award course credit for certifications you’ve earned, allowing you to save time and money while fulfilling course requirements that can be applied to our undergraduate certificates in HR people analytics and human resource management; our bachelor’s degrees in business administration and human resource management; our graduate certificate in strategic human resource management; and our Master of Science in management concentrations in human resource management and interdisciplinary studies in management.

SHRM-CP® and SHRM-SCP® are registered marks of SHRM.

Submit a Request for Credit

If you have one or more of these certifications, you must submit official documentation from the certifying organization (such as a certificate, verification code, or letter) which includes your name, the title of the certification, and the date(s) of the certification. Send this documentation to studentrecords@umgc.edu after you apply to UMGC.

Upon receipt, UMGC will assess whether the certification can be applied to your program (based on all other sources of credit you earn) and, if so, how it will be applied (major coursework, elective, or other). If ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ does not receive the appropriate documentation, we will not be able to evaluate credit and its applicability to your degree or certificate program.Â
