In as few as 15 credits, you can build your expertise by adding a minor to your bachelor’s degree program at University of Maryland Global Campus. Choosing a minor is optional but highly encouraged, as you will take a group of courses that is tightly focused on a specific subject area. Be sure to consider your academic and career interests when choosing a minor, and make sure you look at the requirements for an academic minor before getting started.
Academic Minors
A minor in accounting requires the completion of 15 credits of coursework. All ACCT courses apply.
A minor in African American studies requires the completion of 15 credits of coursework chosen from the following:

A minor in communication studies requires the completion of 15 credits of coursework. All COMM, JOUR, SPCH, and WRTG courses apply.

A minor in computer science includes the completion of 15 credits of coursework, including the following two-course sequence in programming:

Accelerated Pathway

A minor in mathematical sciences requires the completion of 18 credits of coursework, including 15 credits in MATH courses numbered 140 or higher and at least 3 credits in MATH or STAT courses at the 300 or 400 level.
No more than two courses may satisfy requirements for both the academic major and the minor. Prerequisites apply for all courses.
A minor in natural science requires the completion of 17 credits of coursework in natural science, chosen from any courses in astronomy, biology, chemistry, geology, natural science, and physics.
A minor in personal financial planning requires the completion of the following courses:

As a personal financial planning minor, you will already have taken five of the six courses required to complete the Certified Financial Planner Board-approved course of study that will qualify you for the CFP exam. But you do not have to currently be enrolled at ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ to take these classes. The CFP Board-approved course of study is available to any individual that is interested in earning the CFP certification.
The two-part education requirement for CFP certification includes both completing coursework on financial planning through a CFP Board Registered Program, such as the UMGC personal financial planning minor, and holding a bachelor’s degree or higher in any discipline from an accredited college or university. You must complete the coursework before you can take the CFP exam. You have five years from the date you pass the CFP exam to complete the bachelor’s degree requirement.
A minor in philosophy requires the completion of the following courses:
