In the aftermath of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, the university may institute programs and scholarships to assist affected students at ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ and other institutions. In such an event, you can find the most recent information and resource links by visiting this page.

If you miss class due to a natural disaster, and are using military tuition assistance (TA) or veterans (VA) benefits, but are still able to complete the course it will have no effect on your TA or VA benefits. If, because of the natural disaster, you must withdraw from the course contact your advisor, success coach or military education coordinator for assistance in submitting a request for exception to UMGC Policy 170.72 (Course Withdrawal). An approved request for exception will allow you to withdraw from the course without financial penalty or adverse impact to your TA or VA benefits.
UMGC will expeditiously admit and enroll students who have been displaced from their universities because of a natural disaster. If you would like to continue your coursework at UMGC, either online or at one of our on-site locations, please call 800-888-8682 to speak to an admissions advisor.

UMGC's , available on Engage, outlines a number of steps you can take to help ensure you are prepared if your classroom becomes inaccessible for an extended period of time. As always, you can contact your program director for additional information or assistance.
If the onsite portion of any hybrid class is cancelled due to a natural disaster, the advisor at the location where the hybrid class is conducted will contact all students as to next steps. In addition, the instructor will post a notification in the D2L classroom that contains important information and instructions for all students. Students are also encouraged to contact their academic advisor and class instructor immediately to discuss how the class will proceed, and to request other pertinent information regarding class make up sessions.
