University of Maryland Global Campus offered the opportunity to earn up to $1,000 with the Alumni Winter Term Scholarship1Ìýfor students who started taking courses in winter 2020 in one of the following master's degree programs:

The scholarship is disbursed in increments and your award amount is dependent upon your transfer credits and course load. SeeÌýScholarship DetailsÌýbelow for more information.

How to Earn This Scholarship

Alumni: Apply to UMGC in Three Easy Steps

  2. Send UMGC official transcriptsÌýfor college coursework completed outside of UMGC. You do not need to complete this step for your previously completed ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ coursework, if applicable.

  3. Talk to an admissions advisorÌýif you have questions about the application process or need help selecting your MBA or cybersecurity courses.

Meet the Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the Alumni Winter Term Scholarship, you must

  • Have earned a degree or certificate from UMGC, conferred prior to January 1, 2020, with a GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Meet theÌýadmissions requirementsÌýof the university
  • Take your first course in an eligible graduate program in the winter 2020 term

Alumni Winter Term Scholarship availability may vary based on your ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ division. SeeÌýUMGC Europe and UMGC Asia EligibilityÌýbelow for more information.

If you receive this scholarship, you must meet UMGC's requirements forÌýsatisfactory academic progressÌýto maintain your eligibility.

Scholarship Details

Alumni Winter Term Scholarship funding is applied in the following increments:

  1. The term after you earn your 13th credit
  2. The term after you earn your 25th credit

Please note:ÌýYou must be enrolled in order for scholarship funding to be disbursed to your account.

The following chart provides an example of how transfer credit and ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ credit loads affect the amount and disbursement of scholarship funds for graduate students:

Please Note:ÌýWithdrawal from all courses in a term in which the award is applied will result in the Alumni Winter Term Scholarship being canceled for that term. Your balance will be recalculated, and you will be responsible for any outstanding amounts. You will receive the scholarship in the next term in which you are eligible and enroll.

UMGC Europe and UMGC Asia Eligibility

UMGC Europe Eligibility

Members of the U.S. Armed Forces, American employees of the U.S. Government, and their family members residing within an overseas contracted site in Europe or downrange are eligible for the Alumni Winter Term Scholarship if they meet the other scholarship eligibility criteria and register for one of the following master's degrees offered by UMGC Stateside:

  • Master of Science in cybersecurity management and policy
  • Master of Science in digital forensics and cyber investigation

They are not eligible for the scholarship if registering for the Master of Business Administration or the Master of Science in cybersecurity technology offered by UMGC Europe.

UMGC Asia Eligibility

Members of the U.S. Armed Forces, American employees of the U.S. Government, and their family members residing within an overseas contracted site in Asia are eligible for the Alumni Winter Term Scholarship if they meet the other scholarship eligibility criteria and register for one of the following master's degrees offered by UMGC Stateside:

  • Master of Science in cybersecurity management and policy
  • Master of Science in cybersecurity technology
  • Master of Science in digital forensics and cyber investigation

They are not eligible for the scholarship if registering for the Master of Business Administration offered by UMGC Asia.

If you are not eligible for the Alumni Winter Term Scholarship, you could be eligible for other scholarships or financial aid atÌýUMGCÌýEuropeÌýorÌýUMGCÌýAsia.

1ÌýThe Alumni Winter Term Scholarship cannot be combined with any ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ tuition discount except for theÌýFED Program discount.
2ÌýIf you provide inaccurate or fraudulent information or documentation to ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ during the admissions process, you may be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the university'sÌýCode of Student Conduct. If you are found to be in violation of the Code of Student Conduct, your eligibility for scholarships may be terminated, and you will be charged the standard ÐÒ¸£±¦µ¼º½ application fee, tuition, and fees retroactively and for the remainder of your enrollment based on the appropriate tuition category.
