The Federal Pell Grant is no-cost tuition assistance that is funded and awarded by the Federal Government and can support you in financing your education at University of Maryland Global Campus. The Pell Grant is based on the Student Aid Index (SAI) as determined by the FAFSA and current enrollment.

  • Recipients must be enrolled in an undergraduate degree-seeking program leading to a first bachelor’s degree and meet all other eligibility criteria required for receipt of Federal assistance, includingSatisfactory Academic Progress, also known as SAP.
  • The maximum Federal Pell Grant for a full-time student (12 credits or more per semester) for the 2024–2025 academic year is $7,395. Awards for students less than full time will be prorated. The maximum Pell Grant eligible Student Aid Index (SAI) is 6655.
  • Students will be able to receive a Pell Grant for a maximum of 12 full-time semesters.
  • Pell Grant awards will be based on your active enrollment. Upon each start date, Pell Grants will adjust to reflect your current active enrollment.
  • Changes in Enrollment, such as withdrawals, can affect Pell Grant eligibility. Learn more about howchanges to your enrollment can affect your Pell Grant funding.

The National Student Loan Data System has information about your Federal student loans and Pell Grant awards. You may view your Pell Grant balance for all institutions attended by logging into the. You will need your Federal PIN to access this information.

Note: If you were the dependent of a servicemember or public safety officer killed in the line of duty on or after September 11, 2001, you may qualify for additional Federal Pell Grant funding. In order to be considered for this additional funding, you will begin by submitting awith UMGC’s school code (011644). After your submission is received, you will receive additional instructions to verify eligibility.

Important Information to Note

  • If your FAFSA information changes as a result of verification or there is a change in your enrollment, your Federal Pell Grant award may change.

  • You are no longer eligible for the Pell Grant once you have earned your first bachelor’s degree.

  • You cannot receive a Pell Grant at more than one institution within the same academic term.
