Rhoda Smackum

Rhoda Smackum is a manager in career services at University of Maryland Global Campus. She has over 3 years of work experience in the field of career development and enjoys working with students and alumni to identify career issues, match values with career choices and obtain meaningful work. Smackum previously served as a manager for a career counseling and educational guidance company where she provided comprehensive education and career resources for military spouses in the spouse education and career opportunities program, as well as an adjunct assistant professor. She has a master’s degree from Bowie State University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a Certified Master of Career Services (CMCS) and an associate certified career coach. As an adjunct assistant professor and course chair, Smackum teaches the Career Planning and Management course online, mentors faculty, and collaborates with the acting director of Prior Learning to update and maintain course resources, syllabi, and schedules.
