Mary Frances Lebamoff joined University of Maryland Global Campus in 2011. She has more than 15 years of experience in higher education, teaching political science at Loyola University Chicago and UMGC. Her areas of research and teaching focus largely on international relations, especially on Eastern Europe (the Balkans), international affairs, and conflict management and resolution.
As a University of Michigan undergraduate (2003), she was senior researcher and interviewer on intergenerational ethnicity and identity among immigrants to the Dearborn area from the Middle East. Lebamoff has been an active researcher and author on a variety of topics since 2003, and she has presented papers at multiple conferences in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
As a thoroughly nontraditional student (she began her university education in 1971), she completed a master’s degree in international affairs in 2005 and a PhD in comparative political science in 2015, both from Loyola University Chicago. She has been published in Comparative Civilizations Review, wrote several chapters in an international relations textbook for Anadolu University in Turkey for their English-language online division, and was an invited keynote speaker at the 2018 NATO Advanced Research Workshop in Skopje, Macedonia.
Lebamoff is a longtime member of the American Political Science Association.
