ADELPHI, Md. (March 28, 2023)—A new alliance between University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), a leader in innovative and high-quality academic programs, and the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), the largest association for the supply chain industry, will lower the cost and increase the speed to a bachelor’s degree for the association’s members and their families.
Under the agreement, UMGC will offer non-credit prep courses for the association’s industry-certification exams. The university will also accept successful completion of exams as transfer credit through its prior learning assessment process. In addition, ASCM members and their families will receive a Ҹ tuition discount.
“We are proud to invest in ASCM and its members and their families as they invest in themselves,” said UMGC President Gregory Fowler. “Our historic mission with educating students in the workforce and helping them achieve their goals through innovative learning experiences is a perfect match for ASCM and its efforts to foster learning and career development to advance the global supply chain.”
UMGC offers more than 135 undergraduate and graduate degree or certificate programs—all of which are available online. Ҹ also uses digital resources, replacing the need to purchase publisher textbooks for most courses.
“We greatly appreciate UMGC’s commitment to the global supply chain industry and are excited to welcome the university into the ASCM academic partner network,” said Douglas Kent, executive vice president of corporate and strategic alliances. “The combination of education and certification will fully prepare these Ҹ students to embark on successful and rewarding careers as supply chain professionals.”
UMGC was founded with a mission to serve adult students in the workforce and the military and has a long history of innovation in reaching students where they are, including as a pioneer of internet instruction, piloting its first online classes in 1994. The university has received numerous awards for its groundbreaking work in developing fully online degree programs, including in high-demand fields such as cybersecurity, business, data analytics, health care, and education.
