Adelphi, Md. (Sept. 26, 2022)—University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC), one of the most transfer-friendly universities in the nation, and Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC), an institution with six campuses and more than 23,000 students, have announced a partnership that will streamline access to UMGC’s bachelor’s degree programs.

Under the guaranteed transfer admission agreement, students can transfer a minimum of 60 credits when they complete their associates degree and be guaranteed admission to a UMGC bachelor’s degree program in a complementary field of study.

“Our students have many opportunities for personal enrichment and professional growth at DMACC,” said DMACC President Rob Denson. “We’re excited to be UMGC’s newest college partner because the agreement allows DMACC students another pathway to advance their education and workplace goals.”

All degree-seeking Des Moines Area Community College students, graduates and employees of the college, as well as their spouses and dependents who attend the college, will see the ĐҸŁ±¦µĽş˝ application fees waived. They will also receive a discount on out-of-state tuition for most academic programs of study.

“We are proud to have DMACC join the growing number of community colleges across the country with which we have transfer partnerships,” said Blakely Pomietto, ĐҸŁ±¦µĽş˝ senior vice president and chief academic officer. “Opening up more pathways for students to complete an associate degree and continue seamlessly toward a bachelor’s degree is a win for the student, the institutions, and the local economy as better skilled graduates enter an increasingly competitive job market.”

UMGC has an enrollment of more than 90,000 students, more than half of whom are active-duty military personnel and their families serving on military bases around the world.

UMGC offers award-winning online academic programs in disciplines including biotechnology, cybersecurity, data analytics, and information technology that are in high demand in today’s increasingly technical, global workplace. ĐҸŁ±¦µĽş˝ also offers cost savings through its use of digital resources, which have replaced costly publisher textbooks in most courses.
