University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Institutional Advancement has earned a CASE District II 2019 Accolades Award for its Alumni Winter Term Scholarship program initiative. District II, the largest of CASE districts with more than 650 participating institutions, offers awards in approximately 30 categories. UMUC won a silver award and was the only university to receive an award in the Student Recruitment Package category.
“Thanks to all who helped to support and elevate this award-winning program,” said Nikki Sandoval, associate vice president for career services and alumni relations in UMUC’s Office of Institutional Advancement on announcing the award to staff members.
The university’s Strategic Enrollment Management department with admissions and marketing creative support was instrumental in the winning Institutional Advancement program’s success, Sandoval added. “This initiative is certainly a partnership across both departments and a great team effort,” she said.

The Accolades Awards program is exclusively for District II members and offers them an opportunity to be recognized for the visibility, support, and prestige they bring to their institutions, according to CASE commentary about its programs. Entries in each category were evaluated by a host judge and panel of experts from both within and outside of CASE member institution; winners were selected based on quality, creativity, innovation, adherence to professional standards, and success in meeting stated objectives.
